	Parkdale was founded in 1957, as Barbara Jacobs School. Ms. Jacobs was a pioneer and visionary, foreseeing things to come. Those were days of "June Cleaver" and "Harriet Nelson" --mothers depicted in the kitchen with milk & cookies. They were also days when parents had fewer choices, particularly with regard to their pre-schoolers-- moms stayed home.
	Nancy Umstot began as a teacher in 1961, becoming skillful owner/administrator in 1977-- just in time, for changing times; an era of more families relying on two earners. The need for safe, educational and motivating programs for pre-schoolers, after-school and full-time school was critical for those wanting to be confident about their children, while endeavoring in careers.
	We should all remember Ms. Wilson working wonders in the nursery from 1968 --who didn't love Ms. Wilson? Taking care of those litty-iddy doodies, with their early ABC's and don't forget the D's for dydies-- what an extraordinary lady. Her attention, patience and particularly-- her love; we hard-working moms are still very indebted to Ms. Wilson!
	Ms. Bennett was known for her outstanding gifts with toddlers-- What devotion in teaching the rudiments of life while moms began to work and/or continue their own educations, whether separately or as part of the team, requiring dual family incomes.
	'Miss Sheryl' (Payne, Nancy Umstot's daughter) has been with Parkdale since 1973 and continues today with the same wonderful smile: that says a lot, don't you think? Sheryl is one of our most outgoing and embracing staff members, like her mom, doing her best to make everyone feel at home.
	Dear Ms. Cleek worked with early grade schoolers from 1968 until 2001-- we're all better for her time and devotion. Ms. Cleek was known for her common sense, which is after all-- one of the best qualities we know of, for guiding young people.
